Are they anygood? Tons of them grow around here. I remember trying one as a kid (I knew they were eidable) but it was a really weird tart with a bad aftertaste... maybe you have to wait after the frosts?

Some are good, some are not. It depends on the tree. Large berries are often a whole lot sweeter than small ones. If you find a good tree, and like the taste, consider yourself lucky, as the harvest is ridiculously big.
