There's a unique-looking gorge with a waterfall literally right on the other side of the river from where I live. Even before I had a car, I used to explore that area all the time and saw nobody ever. It was my personal retreat spot where I could get away from everything (well, besides my favorite fishing spots on the aforementioned river). Once in a great while I would see someone on the state forest trail, but never at the bottom of the cliff where the creek runs. Some of my earliest and fondest /out/ memories were made there.
A few years ago, some inconsiderate pos urbanite posted step-by-step directions on AllTrails. All of a sudden, people from all over the place started encroaching on my turf and littering in the process. It will never be the same. There is no going back.
Looking at AllTrails logs, people from different parts of New York (including some from the Big Shitty), Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Minnesota, Texas, and fucking California have intruded my old stomping grounds since the pandemic started. Why the fuck would someone travel hundreds or even THOUSANDS of miles to the literal middle of nowhere to recreate? Wtf? The person who put that route up on AllTrails has a lot to answer for!
