Wool is actually pretty good for hot weather too if you get thinner socks

also learn to read; the first one was "these are the boots when I first got them and put on conditioner" of course they look new. The second one was when I soaked them in water to get out the fold, and re-fit them and applied conditioner- of course they look new. The last one I explicitly said I was lucky to get these boots in a gamble, they were worn like one and are basically new.
Sorry I don't aim to buy my boots already destroyed. These pictures are all months old, and I wear them weekly when doing work on my property. Sorry to disappoint your LARP projections.

Wool is good all year round. It dries much quicker than cotton, and doesn't irritate the skin like synthetics do. Coarsely knit wool socks are the best.

Wearing right now, for garden work today.
With thick socks they are fine, but thin socks will rub you bad
their sizing is messed up, but reviews are consistent in telling you order a size down
The toe box is a nice shape and roomy, but I wish the stitching was more robust overall
the laces are shorter than I would like for boots, for either wrapping around or just tucking
I think they would be great boots for a lower price; I see handmade boots out of south afrika that are around the 100$ range like Jim Green
These seem more like fancy dress converse boots than hard duty built to last

because of the rough heel area, you need to break them in over wearing regularly a week or two
They claim they 'break in easy!' but when I went for my first lengthy walk, my heel got cut into
I feel like I'm near that 'wear out the inside heel enough' phase but I still liner sock and wool sock to prevent rub through

There are rubber sock/shoes with individual toes but that's mainly for coasts or beaches when you don't want to walk on broken glass/sharp coast rocks
if it's waterproof it's either slick enough to not be practical or thick enough to not be socks

Yup, pretty much this. I bought two pairs because of 'muh Border war' and while I do have a pretty decent boot collection with even different makes on the way as I speak, these have been firmly placed in my closet never to be worn again. $160 can net you a fairly solid boot, however the are not worth the money.
