45Liter packs seem to do the best.

I think the stealth part comes in more if you're doing it in an urban environment.
You don't usually want to camp where the homeless people camp. I've slept in the shopping cart stalls before, they have a canopy so they'll protect you from rain.
Oh, and bring earplugs.
It blows my mind what people pay for motel/hotel rooms and camp sites.
