Unironically get shoes that fit.
I worked in a shoe store and walk 3 hours a day (doggo walks along rivers etc) and never lost the ability to find good shoes.
Buy shoes in the afternoon when your feet are swollen from walking and standing up all day.
Stand into shoe laces tied as best you can, making sure you slide the heel all the way back. Flex the shoe with weight on it and have somebody push the front to measure clearance, aiming for 1cm (hiking shoes on hills/mountains require this). Feel the sides, if you are pushing hard into the sides, try another shoe. Now walk and feel for heel slide. You can manually attempt to move it by holding onto the shoe or boots rear. If you get any slide try re-lacing with a slight flex in the ankle, putting pressure on the tounge whilst re-doing the lace slides the heel back. If its a boot cross hatch lace to further pull the heel back. Check again for toe clearance.
If all is good do some foward jumps and stopping immediately to try slide foward in the boot. If you feel lots of pressure on the front or sidewalls try another boot. Bring your custom foot bed if you have one. Most (white) Australians have wide flat feet, Keen are easy to wear. Most European designed shoes are narrow at the front and heel. Shop around, never buy when you are cold. Simple
Wear the socks you always wear, stay away from pure merino, look for a nylon blend.
