>>2195514One set of gear was mine, the other was my friend's. We got dropped off and a mile in my buddy slipped and fucked his head up really bad, lots of blood and he was acting really out of it. Got back down to where we got dropped off and got someone to take my friend to the hospital. We were out of state and didn't have cases for the rifles as we were just carrying them so I decided I'd just hold onto the gear and carry on with the trip and he'd catch up when/if he got discharged.
Hiked up the whole way with all the gear and two days later my buddy showed up. Got home a week later, went to work and lifted a 2lb piece of metal about 18" in front of my chest and my spine felt like it exploded.
Probably would have helped if I had been in better shape at the time, wasn't fat but never did back or core exercises.
