A few of us from 4chan are starting our own community and eventually independent state in B.C. We are looking specifically around the area behind Vancouver Island. Has anyone been around this area? How are the rivers? Are the winters bearable?

There is so much moisture in part due to large weather systems and adiabatic processes that the moss grows on moss which grows on moss and the entire region is a characterized as an actual rain forest/rain band. The terrain is beautiful, yet dangerous and rough. Bears, cougars, moose, elk, deer and other large mammals to keep you on your toes. The fall season and spring season are infested with mosquitoes. On the flip side, if you're an effective hunter, fisher and forager you will not starve as there is an absolutely massive food web.

In the north it's the opposite during el nino years and la nina years. In general the Pacific longterm weather systems dominate most of North America and develop a loose pattern and during el nino years the weather systems move further south typically giving the US southwest good winter snows, while in the north during el nino years the snow is average to below average typically. The opposite occurs in la nina years, in which the north (like BC and PNW, central and northern Rockies) get blasted with above average snow and the US southwest gets a below average year during la nina typically. Pic related is a good example of a typical strong el nino year (south gets blasted, north is below average, some central regions are inbetween). A la nina year is typically a year with good snow up north.
