Anyone here invest in Titanium /out/ gear?
Its usually hella expensive. I found this eBay ch*nese titanium brand called Keith. So far I bought their $10 carabiner clips. Replaced my hammocks heavy cast steel clips, half the weight was in that metal. Shit is proper light now.
I wish I could find a nice 30oz vacuum titanium water bottle. Pic related is $80, comes with a coozy. Not quite what Im looking for tho.

i just took one out and did as pull up on it, it deformed a bit. i weight 175lb. now i cant bend it back. lol. but it still looks good. two of these where enough to hold my 175lb ass in a hammock with no deformation.
i wouldnt use these for climbing obviously, but they work great to hook water bottles to your belt, or backpack. they are as light as those cheapo keychain carabiners you get a the dollar bin, but much, much stronger. and better than any lightweight plastic carabineers ive used. those tend to be bulky.
my guess is that its rated at 100lb since it started to deform at nearly double that.

I'm not that anon, but other than them being stupidly expensive for no good reason (the cheap aluminium ones will just do just as good of a job), nothing.
But to hold an hammock, at least the cheap 12kN ones from China, plenty of strength for what you'll do in a hammock (from what I've seen on youtube videos, they do hold up to the 12kN) and cheap (between $2-4)

In Russia we have a somewhat cheap titanium cooking gear by local producers, one of which is pretty much ordering it from china but another one making it themselves. For example, I have a cooking set of 2 pots that fit in each other (1.2l and 0.8l) and a lid/frying pan (0.4l) for less than $100. They resemble Toak products. Quality is pretty good and it weights next to nothing.
We also have local producer that makes army style pots out of titanium and it's just dirt cheap. Less than $50 for a army style 1.7 pot with a frying pan/lid.

I personally think that titanium is the way to go, since there is surprisingly not so many choices with steel and aluminum is bad for you. You scratch and damage the pot anyway, so I wouldn't get anything made out of aluminum for cooking outdoors. It's suitable only for boiling water.

too much hustle with a heavy bag. Plus, those plastic bottles are literally not made to serve you for a long time. With exposure to heat they will leak awful shit into your water.

These look very nice. Shame they have plastic caps though, whats the point of having a titanium bottle if the cap will go die in a few years? I know you can get it replaced, website even says for free, but still - bottle will hold a lifetime, lid won't make it through five years.
I would also like to have non-chink titanium bottle, but they seem to be very rare.

You should of course be the best you you can be, but when it comes to stuff that adds up- cutting the weight of cookware is not a complaining point. If you spend 100$ on a titanium pot because that 4 oz reduction, then... well that requires a re-evaluation of perspective; but if you can get a good deal and shave off like a third of your weight in the same go why not?

That Bechamps terrain theory is the real truth of disease by virusses and that vaccines are thus a bogus solution to a bogus problem. titanium is awful for cooking.
it doesn't conduct heat well.
even for just boiling water it's pretty inefficient.
stainless steel isn't much heavier but is infinitely better for cooking and holds up to the rigours of outdoor life much better, not to mention the fact it's significantly cheaper.

i also have concerns about what is actually in these cheap chinese titanium cookware items. It's very low quality titanium with other metals mixed in. Aluminium? Led?
I don't want to cook with it, thanks.

japanese titanium is what you want.
the only brand i know for sure which uses japanese titanium is evernew.
maybe toaks and snow peak do aswell, i'm not sure. there is probably good quality titanium being produced in china these days.

generally you can tell how good the titanium is just by how the item looks.
does it look dirty? rough? is the finish not uniform? then it's probably not good titanium.
