Would those rocks be rather slippery, or more grippy from the moss? I would think they'd be really wet unless it's some really spongey moss.

Motorcamper in.
Recently bought a Botabag, a new Coglhans one, not a "real" one.
It was $10CAD and Holds 1L, they also make a 2L version.
So far works well, I bought it because it's easier to keep on my body than a water bottle and with a water bottle I have to take off my helmet, with the botabag I can just tip it upside down.
What I do worry about is having to clean it.
Vinegar and water maybe? How do I dry it?

I think more cowboy or horse rider inspired stuff could be useful. I mean Saddle bags are already inspired by cowboys.
Might try and get a sheepskin seat cover when I get a job.

depends on the use you wanna give to it. If you wanna carry wine you must pour good wine for a while, if its for water you dont need to do anything. Remember to clean it everytime you empty it and let it open for a while

Well, I do early medieval reenactment, so you might call that camping in historical gear (period-correct tents, fear, campfire cooking), though our last team event was 37 people (9 tents), including 4 kids, plus 2 doggos.

I've worn puttees on some of my more back country adventures. I don't care if they look dumb, they waterproof you up to the knee, give you excellent bump/scrape resistance, and suuport your legs well. I can see why they were popular gaiters don't even come close

Cleaning it is important when you carry wine, once its empty and you dont want to refill it you just fill it with water and then empty it and let it dry open. For water is no problem, just remember to let it dry open for a while when you're not using it
