Hi /out/, so I have a question to you experienced cold-campers out there. I have never gone backpacking in the snow, but will begin this year. Unfortunately I won't have enough money for a good sleeping bag nor a tent untill next year.

What I do have is a tarp, good clothing (I have loads of experience with day hikes in the cold), and a sleeping bag that I have slept in comfortabely in about 5 degrees celsius.

At night I expect temperatures to drop as low as -20C (-5F), but probably not lower than -10C (15F) most nights. I do have possibilites of making fires.

My question is then: will backpacking with this equipment be dangerous to me, or just uncomfortable? I can handle uncomfortable, but it would suck to get permanent damage from the cold and having bad equipment.

Pic related, the kind of environment I will be in.
