What is /out/s favorite game to hunt? What animal could you happily live without being able to hunt? Offer some explanations. Personally, I love hunting turkey. Calling them in, scattering a flock, having to be well camouflaged. I could go without any sort of waterfowl hunting however.

I've never hunted but I imagine hunting deer to be quite exhilarating. I think I'd be more of a trapper though.

I don't hunt, but I do fish, and I definitely have a similar kind of preference. I couldn't give two fucks about shit like bass, bluegill, catfish, or other warm water species, but I couldn't live without being able to hunt for trout in small streams with a fly rod. They don't even have to be large fish. As long as I can spot them in the water from downstream of their pool, cast my fly right over their head, and watch them attack the fly, I can die happy.

When it actually comes down to it, yeah, but most of the time it's honestly boring as fuck if all you're interested in is getting the deer. You either really need an excuse to escape your daily life or really enjoy nature to sit out in the cold for long enough to get a deer, especially in most of the States where any decent sized game land will have 5+ hunters for every buck. Seriously, in PA deer season is a social activity.

Not that I don't love buck hunting, especially since I have 73 acres of family forest to hunt on, alone. But overall I'm with OP, turkey hunting's mad fun.

I wish, but I'm not sure if I'd enjoy the canoe hunting as much as stalking. Is there any viable way to hunt moose on foot?

+1 internets for the turkey hunting. I suck at turkey calling, but I love going with my brother in law because he's a decent caller. It's like having a conversation with the birds. Turkey calling is true magic.

I'm pretty meh about deer hunting. There is too much fruitlessness for the actual killing ALMOST.

Based on experience hunting is more fun. Trapping is catching a lot of flak around where I live, and understandably so, because trappers keep going tardmode and setting up traps within a few feet of public trails. Dogs get their legs broken all the time.

Haha, my fault. When moose hunting was explained to me I was told it's usually done with the hunters in a canoe on the river because the animal's so damn heavy carrying it out of the woods is very difficult.

That is absolutely untrue. I'm from Maine and we have more moose than any state other than Alaska and I've never even heard of hunting from a canoe.

you said it best, OP. Turkey are dumb as hell but they've out-competed the dinosaurs by being hard as fuck to kill. They spot you from far away, they'll mess you up if they get cornered, no joke...and they can fly if they have to.

I still camp, snowshoe, and run in the woods all of the time. The no-hunting was a result of my house's "no gun" policy, since my parents were anti-hunting. Now, I just need to save up the money for a decent gun and find a hunting buddy.

Hunts I could never live without:
Waterfowl, turkey, deer, pheasant, grouse, waterfowl, waterfowl, waterfowl.

Hunts I might be okay without:
Bear, coyote, basically any predator hunt.
