If I want to spray paint my tent to make it more subdued, will that fuck it up? What's the best way to make my tent a different color, am I right to use spray paint?

To be honest I'm not sure.
I have a question of my own for anyone who knows (since this is a general thread I'm assuming lol)
What's the best way to sew a seam into a large tarp so that it becomes slightly more rigid? I have a plastic type tarp from Walmart that I want to make a lengthwise seam on. What do I use for stitching?

RIT dye. Which may or may not work depending on if the fabric has been treated/sealed with silicone or polyurethane for waterproofing. Spray paint may have solvents that react with the fabric and/or coatings that will either cause it to melt/burn holes, or not stick.

Try dyeing first.

That's what I thought. Need a big enough bucket to fit my tent in, hopefully the heat won't ruin the fabric

Isn't spray paint basically just aerated paint? It'll come off whenever the tarp flexes in areas, like someone already said a dye is probably you're best bet but it depends on the material

painting is going to look absolutely fucking awful.
if you're incompetent at sewing, you could probably take velcro patches and stick that to a "cover" and the shell of the tent. then attach them.

sew a few strips onto the tent
then water treat the seams on the under side
then attach lightweight camo fabric or foliage to the strips ?
I want to change the color of my tent, it is a light tan but it is also water proofed already so paint would damage it and I don't think it would hold a stain like >>2210440
