what are some good camping spots in southern california during november - febuary? referring to the general region picrel. I'd prefer somewhere woodsy, but not in the snow of course.

Yeah, it's a joke. Even places that had fires two years ago are still closed because "oh we need to let the saplings grow back".
Joshua tree and death valley are two areas I have in mind this winter, too. Would be cool to say hi

Lake Casitas is either full of loud partying people and hot or else cool and empty. Go when its cool and empty.
El Capitan SB, Gaviota SB have been decent in my experience if you don't mind glamping between the freeway and the beach/cliffs.
McGrath SB has been flooded and "closed" for years but if you are sneaky you can hike in.
I'm looking at my next trip being in the Los Padres assuming it remains open and not burning. Most of the wilderness south of it has too many people from LA for my liking.
