South-east USA is where I do my camping. Any other recommendations are appreciated.

Surveyor here, I would stick to the Ontario machetes. Get a barteaux bros if you can find one, unfortunately they're out of business.

Here's my current Machete, My grandad's machete when he would go innawoods. Had a leather wrapped handle that fell off. Had to replace with what I had at the time....Athletic tape.

And I'm actually surprised at how comfortable the taped handle is. Absorbs a lot of shock. But the blade is getting kind of brittle, being old as fuck. Chipping out almost every swing. So I need to replace it.

OP, unless you want both, I'd recommend the Condor Golok. It depends on your uses, but for me, I find the length, heft and balance more general purpose.

The Condor Parang may be suited better to tomb raiding in thick jungle undergrowth for it's balance and carry through in swing. Haven't tried it like that yet.

Planning to strap my Golok to my modular A.L.I.C.E. frame.

Don't get me wrong, both are WELL worth the $39 ea I paid (sale price)... and more.
