I just have cheap department store sunglasses and I want to upgrade.
My biggest concern is scratch resistance. I don't have the money for Oakleys or anything. Opinions on Goodr or Knockaround?

i wear prescription glasses and have prescription sunglasses i bought off zenni
for going /out/ i recommend getting something with a 50% magenta tint. it really helps distinguish greens much better, also lets you see hypergreen after taking them off.
i also recommend getting ones with a 10% yellow tint. helps alleviate eye strain, increases contrast at night, and reduces glare.
my regular sunglasses are polarized, unfortunately cant see some LCD screens without turning me head sideways.
try different colors. they each have their own purpose. green works well on snow for example

I wear Costas but you could probably get something just as good for cheaper. If you are looking into water or fishing, a polarized lens optimized for water is really a huge plus. If you are innawoods alot, I prefer a blue lens because it cuts down on glare while not dimming the colors too much. All the greens etc. still sort of pop with a blue lens.

In which way the outer colour affects the sunglasses? I mean, cyclists wear all colours, even multicolours. Is just a trend or does it really make something in what you see?

I know that sunglasses tend to have several layers, but the outer one has any importance?

I just want the darkests one for hikking in the goods, in sunny days and I already bought a Cat.4 sunglasses and when I tried for the first time they had a slight green interior layer, so they were grey in the outer layer and a green one inside. Why do they have to add a green layer if you buy a Cat.4 sunglasses (meaning that you want the less clear view possible?

For example, what do the OP blue sunglasses are meant for? Fishing? Will you see the sky even more blue?

Buy something cheapish at Costco. Used to have Varnet and Raybans but I dont do this anymore. Now I just get cheap ones. If I skied more I'd get Varnet because at altitude you need to have good vision and UV protection from the sky and the reflection off snow.

Also there are many gray outer layer sunglasses and when you receive them at home and take a look, there is a yellowish tint in the inside layer, so if you expected a dark sunglasses to protect you from the sun is counteracted with the yellow layer.

Or why there are some cyclists sunglasses that are all colours in the outlier layers? What sense does this make? For what purpose?
