Can anyone explain the specifics of why rain fucks you up?

All the animals hide from the rain and when I go for a walk and get soaked, even if I come back in and get dry right away I still end up with a headache, a runny nose and a general feeling like shit. What is it about getting wet that causes us to become sickly?

Gotta keep moving to keep your body heat up. I've been rained on plenty of times during long runs, been completely soaked, and as long as I keep moving I don't really get cold.

Exposure to rain can be stressful on your body depending on conditions. Being wet or soaked through causes a lot of heat loss and your body has to compensate for it. That exertion alone can cause the symptoms you experienced and can make you more susceptible to a cold if you happen to respirate a virus.

Animals don't have hot showers and nice fluffy towels at home, I can't blame them for hiding. I'm an /out/ baby and nothing has made me appreciate a hot shower and just BEING DRY after a few days of constant rain in the field. Everything gets wet.

I think it's basically because it fucks up your body heat like >>2226028 says and makes you colder. Water is a lot more conductive for heat transfer, if you've ever been in 17 degree water vs being out on an 17 degree day you'll find that the 17 degree day feels normal while 17 degree water is fucking freezing. And if you're drenched through and the rain stops/ gets lighter you've got the evaporative effect of water on your skin which further cools your body. Water also bypassess whatever insulated effect you're getting from layered clothing
If you've ever been drenched with rain in a hot climate you'll see that it's actually quite nice, it's getting wet in the cold which makes you feel a lot colder

That's not very normal mate, you should temper yourself. Take cold showers, expose yourself to more cold, start taking saunas and you'll stop getting sick after getting wet.

Rain only fucks you up in cold weather. Rain fucks up making a fire obviously. Rain in the wrong quantities can fuck up your plants. If you are farming rain makes it hard to operate machinery, or spray crops, and it can make roads n sheit had to get machinery across. Rain can make some foot trails hard to get across. Rain can make it easier to get blisters if your shit gets wet. Rain can fuck up food and electronics etc. etc. but rain does not make you sick.

I live in a place were it is hot as fuck and there have been alot of times in my life when I was very happy to get rained on.

Runny nose is from the change of temperature, it is basically sweat and everything that your nose filters out and leaves in its atmosphere.
