>>2229315There's no question making it yourself is way cheaper than buying it, even if you had to buy a cheap mig welder, angle grinder, and sewing machine you could still come in under 500$. I've made a bunch of tent stoves and one canvas wall tent.
The CO2 thing is a non issue, if the chimney isn't blocked basically all the gasses are being sucked forcefully out. Even my shittiest homemade stove which got there weird rythms where it would puff little smoke rings into the tent didn't make enough to make a monoxide detector 2 feet from it go off.
In the end though hot tents are mostly a meme, even a big fucking stove wouldn't be able to go all night, so you still need to carry sleeping systems suitable for the outside lows. It's just for keeping warm and drying clothes during the day, so one of those ultralight tipi things are also functionally useless.
This is one I'm making to go in an ice fishing pop up tent, so I can boil tea while waiting for tipups to go off
