This absolute Chad Maurice Wilson was a war hero who determined to summit Everest by the power of prayer and fasting. Without crampons or appropriate gear he made it to the foot of the North Col at 6500m. Impressive.

No way he summited but for a total amateur he did amazing

More like PTSD from the War. Read 'The Great War, Mallory, and the Conquest of Everest'. There's tons of characters like Wilson there who couldn't cope with normal life after the war ended. Hell, the 1921, 1922 & 1924 expeditions were full of veterans. Wilson wast just a tad more eccentric than the rest of that generation.
