>>2234265To clarify, though I guess it may be different if you're using yew, but if you're looking to make a basic ass hunting bow (69+ inches, .maybe 2 1/4- 2 1/2 inch at the widest point, 55 lb draw, probably from a white oak/hickory tree or a red oak dome hepot board), having the drawknife extremely sharp will make it very "grabby", and you'll fuck up a piece of wood in a minute. It ends up functioning somewhere between a scraper and a wedge, and the bows do not require finishing or burnishing when done like this.
