you mean you or the mexicans hate south americans? i live in northern mexico and can confirm a lot of northern mexicans are actually hella racist and specially dislike south americans, can't think of a single reason but the fact that a lot of immigrants in the US that people think of as "mexicans" are actually SA's so they give mexicans a worse rep? not only that but the ones that fail to get into the US stick around northern mexico and plague border cities like Tijuana and Juarez. that being said a lot of northern mexicans seem to also just hate southern mexicans in general so idunno

there is blm/forest service land in chihuahan desert in mexico that would be free to travel in. in texas there is nothing free but outside of the state/national parks there are hunting areas that are really cheap/easy to avoid fee people.
pic related, five dollars for an annual texas wma pass, and a campsite on the rio grande

too bad so little of them is public land. and the nature conservancy holds all the best highest altitude parts but only opens it for day hiking four times a year. and then they havent opened the past two years because rona which is a bullshit excuse just to keep people out

The Florida Mountains near Deming NM are nice. Most of it is protected Wilderness study area and as far as I know you can wander around freely as long as you stay away from the two State Parks in the area.
