>>2237907Take pics of your best moments /out/ and share them with people you think would be interested. They might just be too nervous about messing up, but if you’re an experienced enough outdoorsman (or at least appear so in pictures) then they may feel more confident about wanting to go out with you. Make a list of your top ten spots, then narrow it down to five. That way if they ask if you want to go out, you suggest several places they could go but don’t overwhelm them with choices.
Never give away your favorite spot, it will be overrun and you will regret it every day.
>but I told them to keep it secretBetween two men no such thing is possible. If you find a neato spot, save it for your children. Future generations will thank you.
Also since you mentioned you’re in the desert, pack enough water for you and everyone else in the group, and also pack enough water for the vehicle. People going out for the first time don’t quite understand how their body’s hydration works, and if they’re the typical gamer type as you describe they’ll have shed most of the water in their system by sweating. Also long sleeves with light colors are the best for defending against intense solar radiation in desert climates. The strategy is as follows:
>Drink water on the way to the destination>Wear longsleeve white tee and wide brimmed hat/sun hat>sunscreen too if you prefer looking like a nerd to melanoma>keep a compass and water on you AT ALL TIMES. Everyone carries a full canteen before the trip, no exceptions. Bonus if you can also bring a couple of space blankets in case you need to spend a night in the desert (It gets cold. Try not to let the blanket touch you, or else it will conduct heat away from you.)>memorize the terrain, and get an azimuth bearing on your compass FIRST before embarking1/2
