>>2239532I don't do anything that long or strenuous myself but a couple of options include-
https://www.alltrails.com/explore/trail/us/maryland/warrior-mountain-wildlife-management-area^ short hike to a cleared powerline view on both sides of a ridge
You should be able to find a hike on one of the trails in savage river state forest or green ridge state forest
this one sounds cool to me - lots of creek crossings:
https://www.alltrails.com/explore/trail/us/maryland/monroe-run-trailfor up on a ridge you can hike the whole thing of big savage mountain for a challenge
https://www.alltrails.com/explore/trail/us/maryland/big-savage-mountain-south-terminus-to-high-pointor just a shorter hike to the main view along that trail
https://www.alltrails.com/explore/trail/us/maryland/high-rockand then you can hike along the ridge on the big savage trail for as long as you like
over towards the bottom left of the red rectangle is the horseshoe run area of the monongahela national forest which is little used and quite scenic
you could form some sort of circuit out of the dorman ridge and losh trails (approach them from location rd ) - do not take horseshoe run rd - to hile run rd to approach from the east unless you love crazy narrow dirt roads
there's also a waterfall on the now abandoned maxwell run trail (small)
as well as two small waterfalls along nearby dry run
