there's plenty of remote, little-used areas, sure they have dirt roads and trails but it isn't exactly civilization - the reason the west is less developed is because it is (mostly) much more dry so it is less commercially valuable timber-wise so there isn't as much incentive to rape every inch of nature

OH NO A ROAD - there's a ton of random ass places in appalachia that are about as remote as it gets with trails you can hike - that said - private property is retarded and you should be able to hike anywhere that isn't actively interfering with someone else's house or commercial operations
