It seems like there's a big incentive for firefighters to go out and start fires themselves. Helps a lot with job security, and someone who likes starting fires is more likely to go into this particular profession. Everyone acknowledges the existence of crooked cops, but for some reason nobody every suspects firefighters of any wrongdoings. Possibly because of the hero worship from 9-11. But considering how they handled some of the local fires around me I have a hard time trusting them. I'd like to see more cameras at trailheads to catch these people, because I'm convinced wilderness arson is a lot more common than people acknowledge.
