What wood do you guys like for a walking stick? My favorite is a straight Crepe Myrtle branch about 2" thick. It's really hard wood and makes a great walking stick/niggerknocker.

extremely based stick anon, we seem to have similar tastes. This is mine, i wraped tape around the thinner end for better grip. Shoe for scale. The thicker end is somewhat chipped because i swing it around and knock down dead branches with it.

That short stick? If you want it to really enhance anything, you need enough weight on top that the center of balance is in your hand. If you have that, the stick basically moves on it's own.

Ash for me. A bit taller than I am, ~3cm diameter, steel tipped on one side and capped on the other.
I'm thinking about adding a K98 style bayonet lug to the cap just for lols. With the early style of bayonet, that'd almost be a naginata.

stick point is narrow enough that you can jam it through mud and slippery wet leaf litter and get a good grip when going down or up hill
even if shoes have good treads there is too much surface area for them to penetrate through mud or layers of slippery wet leaves on ground in most cases

Chipped is how it should be lad. A stick remembers the stories it's been through with you. Great thing about them is that they are practically free, bash 'em up without worrying about it costing 90 quid.
