Am I the only one too pussy to go camping solo? I live in area with no wolves or bears, worst thing is probably feral pigs, logically I know nothing is gonna give a shit about me but yet every weird noise makes me alert as fuck and I don't want to go solo. Anyone had similiar experiences?

Go for it I solo camped for the first time the other month, I hiked about 25 miles before finding a nice place to stop, I was so tired by the end of it after I'd eaten I just fell straight asleep

Hiking is more dangerous than camping, anon. If you're in one place for a while, animals will smell you and avoid you. If you're hiking you risk spooking something that doesn't know you are there.

Yeah, it's pretty natural if you haven't had much exposure to the outdoors, I'd say.
I'm gonna come out as a complete pussy, just to help you anon.
What worked for me was to doing a couple outs where I slept in my car (drive to some place I knew I could park and wouldn't have any movement), man made structures make me feel safer for whatever reason so car = safety.
And then I did some outs in the sand dunes on the beach (had houses 2 or 3 km away from me, a road about 1 km away), there's nothing scary on sand dunes and the sound of the waves is soothing.
Basically, try to acclimatize yourself to being alone at night in the woods or some other place with little to no people.
Take it slow (or fast), you'll see how you react in the first couple of times and then plan accordingly.

Nope, but I'm from a nation with virtually zero animals that would fuck with you.
The most dangerous thing we get here are foxes or badgers, and they're very handsome friendly chaps really.
I was always far more scared of people than wild animals, a wild animal has very clear cut behaviours whereas people might just decide to randomly stab you for no reason.

Try going in winter when it is more quiet. Work your way up to being more comfortable in the summer. The first time I solo camped I made the mistake of going in late summer. Acorns and hickory nuts were falling and they sounded like footsteps when they hit the ground. Also small nocturnal mammals kept rustling the vegetation. They will be in hibernation in winter.

I try and bring my girl camping with me but shes not really good camping company as shes pretty out of shape and pretty much can't go anywhere if there isn't a vault toilet.

I'm down to meet up but I guess the larger question around this is, how do you find friends to do this shit with in adulthood? I'm an introvert by nature but even if I wasn't it just seems like such a niche interest. I thought about doing one of those REI classes one time, specifically for backcountry skiing training as I really want to get into that, but I haven't pulled the trigger yet. Good idea?
