>>2249269>What the largest hatchet, axe that isn't akward when one handed.Depends entirely on your strength. If you're of average strength, you can certainly handle a 3kg splitting maul, possibly a 5kg. If you're somewhat muscular, a 10kg maul shouldn't be a problem either.
The important things are the handle (which needs to be somewhat flexible to dampen the shock - steel handles don't do that, which is why your estwing sucks) and the technique (swinging from the body rather than the arm).
>I'm only going to use it to split logs my Sven cuts or beat stakes into the ground.Honestly? I'd bring two splitting wedges (the short ones with the wood handle, preferably aluminum) and a rubber hammer for that. A recoilless one if you want to protect your wrists.
>>2252339>why do you still have that long handle on your hatchet? It's called safety. I've had a glance strike into my knee once before, luckily I was wearing motorcycle pants with protectors at the time.
With a long enough handle, glances will always strike the ground instead.
