>>2248593If you just want wool for the insulation, you might want to consider a bomber jacket. B6 or something similar. Those sell around 300 bucks new, or below 100 used. They have the added benefit of being waterproof (when waxed well).
If you want a coat for the larp, just get some thick wool fabric and sew a greatcoat. You just need to cut circle segments and sew them together lengthwise. Materials cost around 100 $.

If they're cut flat, the edges scratch you and cause itching. Over time, they wear out and become rounded. Usually takes two winters with the stuff I wear.
Also, obviously, sheep's pelts don't have that problem, since their hairs aren't cut.
