Before my city goes into lockdown again and I get stuck in my apartment for another 8 months what do I need to consider before setting up a successful tedshed? Obviously without teds "special hobbies" - more day to day things, heating, washing my bum (quite important to me), electricity (I'm thinking solar+wind+rectifier - gonna need a battery bank of some type for night time)
I've already got a camping toilet, though emptying it is absolutely disgusting

Consider it sucks way more than you think.
Sheds tend to be smaller than you first assume.
I'd make the bathroom, with shower (if you'll have one) + shitter separate from the main shed. Either completely separated or only sharing a wall (for the door)
If you think deeply about it you'll probably realize you need a lot more space than the shed has. (draw the plans for the shed interior, with stuff to scale)

It probably will suck. Winter gets down to zero/-1 celcius
However I don't think I can handle another 8 months being locked in my apartment
I already have a second shed which is falling apart which is where I keep my shitter. Only issue is it's 50m away so when it's dark it's a huge hassle to go take a shit, plus I don't enjoy walking around in the dark because of the snakes

Honestly just build a well, tank, septic, and plumbing for your shed. Its really not that gard or expensive and worth the effort.

my water table is 6m down which is a bit of a blessing and a curse.
blessing in that I can somewhat bury my tedshed to obscure it from the neighbouring properties
the council are real dicks so it'd be impossble to get a legitimate septic system in since it's not attached to a dwelling

Well, I assumed, perhaps wrongly, that OP wanted something cheap, easy to find and easy to build/assemble by himself without arousing too much attention as the shed will be completely illegal (for habitation at least).
But sure...he could buy a fucking mobile home or something as big and be set, but that would cost him more than 20k€ and bring the local municipality to sniff his ass in less than a week.

Homeless shed dweller here.

Get a very strong metal frame, then use pallette wood to build the walls, then build a second wall out of palettes and fill the space inbetween with dirt/clay/rocks/rubbish/whatever. If you can maybe also add a layer of concrete or metal on the outter most layer to fireproof it from molotovs and such,

This results in a very insulated shed that methheads can throw fireworks and rocks and bottles and hammers and whatever else at and you're fine. You should ideally use some kind of bags or boxes also for the dirt that goes inbetween the walls, you're basically building a https://duckduckgo.com/?q=pillbox&iar=images&iax=images&ia=images

You should then plant grape vines or other fast growing vines and plants all around it to help make it less visible and put some barb wire around your solar panels or wind turbines. Spray painting the wood also to make it all and out less is a good idea too although I just pile branches, dirt, and random crap over top of the walls.

Eventually all people see is what looks like some mound of grape vines but really you got your own shed-bunker in there and two pipes coming out of it set at different heights to make sure oxygen exchange happens.

If you have to move your shed you just unpile the sandbags, unscrew the palette wood, take down your metal frame, and then move it all with your bike trailer to a new location.

Note: If you can't afford the metal frame then just find metal tables and stuff that are very strong to create your roof. Use recip saw to cut off the legs if necessary or if you can weld you can weld together random scrap metal objects you find on curb.

In my shed I only store my bike, random stuff underneath the bed, and one backpack with food, and some 4L bottles of water. There is no toilet and other stuff; it just means more things for thieves to steal. Often I don't even store the bike there either, the shed is mainly a place to sleep and not freeze to death.

Its better to build a fake hill around your house than dig down into the ground. You wont have the same drainage problems and you can further camoflaughe it by planting bush and trees around avenues of approach to obscure it.

I'm living in the model I posted.
I get the feeling OP is euro/British so he's probably fucked but in my county I'm actually legal. Only thing that required a permit was septic. If I wanted to rent it I would have to pass inspection and obtain a "certificate of occupancy" to insure it wouldn't collapse or catch fire but it's 100% legal to have it as a personal residence.
And this model qctually.can pass inspection. It has 2x4 studs and hurricane straps on the roof trusses- it"s built like a modern house. The only issue for inspection is that they're delivered raw and how you finish the wiring and plumbing is the pass/fail portion.

when I say bury I meant more like below ground level, in the base of a pit, rathern than being a bunker
still it would probably be like a swimming pool in winter, even with the sandy soil

Just you make palette floor out of the palettes, then you make these wooden palette walls, then you put palette roof or use metal tables or something strong for the roof (roof has to be way stronger than walls), than tarp on roof, then you put sandbags all around and on top of it, then you throw shit like dirt and branches and whatever on top and plan things.

I can get away with my setup because I live in a very rural area where people have hunting land- they'll come up from Florida for deer season and just live in their $120,000 trailer for 2 months so occupation laws are fairly lax.
