>>225361>Pliers Easymode, try removing a hot skillet without a handle full of grease that you don't want spilled.
Pulling deeply embedded fish hooks out of fish mouths- Not always for the fish, but so you get your hook back for another day.
>Scissors Make shift stitches need to have their ends cut off. Personal grooming on long trips. And degree of precision cutting (Don't tell me you've never used a knife to cut something and thought "Fuck if I only had two knives to cut at opposing angles in a v-shape")
>File Fishan spears, again personal grooming (Toe nails in boots can become unruly) Especially good for little bits of woodworking that help to pass the time.
>Everything else No tool, and I mean no tool period is limited in usefulness to its intended function. So the file is for filing.... it's also a nice little pry bar/wedge. Pliers can be used to squeeze things shut, but inversely you can close them, press them in, and use them backwards to open things up (Provided that's how your multi-tool is hinged). The possibilities of having variously shaped pieces of metal in the wild and the knowledge to call upon them for the required situation is invaluable. If you only use it for the 8 things it said on the box, you're seriously missing out.
OP, do you NEED a multi-tool? No.
When you get one though, you'll wonder how you ever lived without it. The FIRST time you leave it home, you'll need it about 10 times. I've put mine to use cooking, working, wrenching, camping, and it even makes a pretty good tool for clearing a bowl.
