We just actually tried overloading it for shits and giggles >full lavvu tent >tent stove >camp chairs >heavy Cook gear (not the cast iron this time >heavy coffee gear >heavy sleeping gear >I forgot the axe and saw like a dumb dumb, so the only tools were an Opinel with the corkscrew, a floating mora boat knife and the Bris Nessmuk which we unironically batonnychopchoped with >3 bags of firewood, a bag of brickettes and a full box of fire starters >my entire expedition sized first aid kit >Pretty much all my fishing lures >heavy food >beer, wine and whisky >lanterns, headlamps and powerbanks And probably stuff I forgot She handled it fine, maybe even better at going straight if a little slower

>>2252564 >>2252572 Not really cold enough yet to justify it, usussually I don't even think of bringing the lavvu unless there is atleast consistent from throughout the night, you can get I really warm and comfy
But I've found the trick is actually not to get it too warm, just barely enough because if you fire it up too much you sleep "too" good and you won't wake up until there's nothing but ash in the oven, and having to relight a dead cold oven at 4am isn't fun, so always keep some sort of extra firestarter prepared like some feather sticks or store bought

>>2252572 >>2252580 Can it get close to a sauna-like temp? The main reason I'm interested is for diving in and out of a cold lake but having a sauna-like tent to warm you up.

Actually I remember back at my outdoor (college? School? Boarding school? Idunno man, 6 month course where you live at the school for adults) I was groggy as hell in the atrium one morning and just kinda instinctively raised my hand to sign up for something, ussually this would be a more advanced trip/activity for the day or a weekend trip, this time though, it was waking up at 4am, to haul large heavy rocks from a trailer to a fire side near the river, basketball sized rocks, just me and one teacher, lighting a huge fire ontop of them all and letting it burn down, so after breakfast other students from the outdoor line could come down and do exactly that under a tarp, at that point I was just too exhausted to even want to participate so I just had a smoke and a nap, until someone put peppermint oil on the rocks and essentially peppersprayed everyone

>>2252582 >>2252814 Just my first thought but, if you were gonna use it as a sauna maybe pile rocks around the stove and use something less ventilated at the top, only the bottom to draw in air but keep moisture?

>>2252814 Cool, that sounds promising. I live in Australia so probably wouldn't need to get it too hot anyway, thinking it would be cool to have something that would make winter swimming a little easier next year, so just enough to take the edge off would be nice.
I've been looking at these little portable stoves so I can easily hike/ kayak camp with them since they disassemble and are light. Idk how much heat they could put out compared to yours since they're smaller but throwing a few rocks on top would probably help.
Also I wonder if ventilation is a problem since you put them together yourself? I guess if I'm keeping the fire totally stocked up it shouldn't smoke too much, but I'd worry about being forced to put wet wood in there. Maybe a CO2 detector would be good.
>until someone put peppermint oil on the rocks and essentially peppersprayed everyone kek. Here it's common for people to put eucalyptus oil on the rocks and I've heard stories of people putting straight undiluted eucalyptus oil on rocks and starting fires before.
