Cots provide negligible insulation since they are typically a single piece of thin fabric, and do not magically make the air below them warmer than the air above them.
Cars aren’t typically insulated very well since they have lots of single-pane windows, thin aluminum exteriors, and vents that allow plenty of drafts.
It will be warmer in a car than a tent, but it’s not like a car will let you get away with sleeping without a blanket when it’s 40*F outside
