>>2255207your doing good bud, honestly, actual flint and steel is just a worse version, the real fun is learning deferent tinders, i highly recommend you get a tin for charring, almost any reasonably tight tin will do, just poke a hole in the lid and your golden, punky wood, denim, horse hoof mushroom ... pretty much any mushroom desu works really well, only thing ive found to avoid is stuff with high resin content like fir or pine
also, dont know how you are doing it son, but always keep your "scraper" stationary and pull the rod pack towards you instead of scraping forward on the rod
