>>2258966>Is MilSpec all too bulky and heavy?Let me guess, it's bait?
If not, right now there's a large supply of cheap Alice large that were poduce for the afghan army and didn't get delivered before the taliban took over.
While they have the crappy frame (the one with only one bend, and thinner metal), thinner padding on the straps and no way to properly tighten the hip pad, the bags are alright. If you have one of the good Alice frames, it's worth getting an afghan one for the bag.
In general, for most things, there's milsurp that's both better and cheaper than civilian products. The only problem is finding those things among the chineseium knockoffs and lowest bidder products.
To give just a few examples:
>German 1960s folding shovelThe lock is much better than any other I've seen. Locks as tight as a fixed one, and is completely sand-proof since it doesn't have threads.
>Alice pack (w/ frame)Exoframes rule. They make you sweat far less because of the gap, allow you to carry heavier loads and give you an extra place to strap stuff too. However, since most people who spend money on going out are weak gearfags who barely go out anyways, most packs you'll find in an acceptable price range will be internal frames, which are easier to carry (since the load is closer to the body) and look nicer.
If you want a good framed bag that isn't milsurp, you're looking at 300-1000€. Meanwhile, an Alice costs about 50€ (or 35, if you're buying the afghan ones).
>ponchosSame stuff as civilian ones, but <20% the price usually.
I could go on, but you should already understand what I mean.
