>>2262919>Try camping one night or two - then get back to us. Ideas and reality can be very different.I am familiar with camping and sleeping on the ground anon. I am just not familiar with long term camping in winter. I guess I should have just asked for a good way to have a year round sleeping system that isn't a burden to carry.
>Also people get hyped about the Appalachian trail and I find it boring. It is crowded and not really in the coolest part of the woods for the most part - it is too close to civilization in many area.I know anon. That's what I'm trying to say. I want to hike like 10-20 miles off tail to an area with no people. I want to camp in there long term and sustain myself. I want to poke my head up for resupply trips, LSD with friends in Asheville, and pink blazing.
If SHTF my plan was to grab my bag, my .22 rifle, and start walking towards the mountain. Maybe hop a train going that way that is near-by where I live. I am in a very rural area. I've visited the AT many times because it's a short drive. The place is like a natural fortress. I want to camp out there long term with a large supply of mushrooms and become a shaman. I don't like this society and I don't want to live in it anymore.
Some pointers about staying warm in winter is really all I'm looking for.
