Might be true if you were in the warmer temperate climate, but when it's -40C with the windchill, my rabbit fur ushanka is the best.

I went to my local fabric place and got myself a roll of merino wool, I cut a shemagh size piece and cut/tied the ends so I didn't have to hem the edges. I wear it over my favorite ballcap.

Carhartt skullcap kept me through a few alaskan winters. I was outside alot too. They are like 10-15 dollars and kept my bald head toasty warm. They even lasted through dogs at my job using them as chew toys every now and then.

I have one of these. Not a huge fan, mostly because of how tall it is, leaving a bunch of loose bulk sitting on the top of your head.
