Dig a snow pit. Do a hand-hardness test and identify layers in the snowpack on your obs wall. Remember to cut that in on the shaded side of the pit! Don't want solar affecting the crystal structure. Use your crystal card and loupe to identify layers of concern.
Once you're satisfied with your obs, move over to the test wall and perform appropriate small- or large-column tests based on the layers and structure of the snowpack.
Then share those obs with your local forecast center, infoex, or operation.
Even if you're not a snow professional, a couple photos with general location, aspect, elevation, and any information you can provide (Hear whumphing? See an avalanche? Shooting cracks?).
