I want to plant trees on state game land. Would I get in trouble if I got caught? I've collected a bunch of seeds this year, Tulip Poplar, Black Gum, Black Locust, ect. I'm going on a literal genocide of invasive stuff next year to, might as well replant something good. Any tips or thoughts??

There are a few volunteer groups that do exactly what you are doing for my local forest preserves. I would try getting in contact with any forestry groups close to you and ask them. They would have better information local to you about regulations and the like.

I bias trees and clear invasive species. Basically murder deciduous trees crowding out evergreens, I spread out evergreens (In the fall) and obliterate Ivy, scotch broom, and Himalayan blackberries.
I also harvest edibles like morals and rose hips and make tinctures out of things like allheal and Indian stove pipes.

I also pick up trash because people are retarded
I also have a folding shovel and collection bags. This all fits in an engineering bag.

Skip the black gum. They mature quickly and can overtake slower growing species.
I'm personally reintroducing Bur oaks (also known as mossycup oaks) to my area. They were once abundant across much of the east but are slow growing and were commonly cut down for wagon parts.
Largest acorns in North America. It's funny to see a squirrel find an acorn bigger than a golf ball- it's like scrat from ice age.
Just stick to species that need help- longleaf pine are getting rare also.

If you plant native trees and kill invasive species the "authorities" will actually enable you. I talk to the city and county "caretakers" and they applaud my gorilla gardening efforts.

You live in China don't you? If you do it in a national park you might get a Stern talking too but literally no BLM enforcer will bat an eye if you plant a native tree. You will get a ticket if you don't have a BLM parking pass though.

Try ordering from the arbor day foundation. They have little saplings for sale and they plant them for you too

Huh I've heard about them, you've peaked my interest. I haven't got any of that kind of oak in my collection yet. Right now I'm really into America chestnuts, and have found a few. I'm definitely going to add bur oak to my list.

Consider ordering some dunstan chestnut saplings and planting those around. It's a hybrid of American x Chinese chestnuts that is blight resistant.
American chestnuts used to be all over the northeast until chestnut blight destroyed all but a handful of them.

I know about them but I would like to stick with the original American, or something at least 90% American. American chestnuts grow way taller than Chinese and are fast growing, in fact, it was one of the fastest growing trees on the east coast. The rate was something crazy like 2' a year. Even the hybrids cant beat that. I know that there's a very good chance they'll die if I grow them, but I know they can make it long enough to fruit. Plus, you never know, you may end up with a resistant 100% American chestnut.
