The population just keeps increasing and slowly but surely we're going to lose even more wild areas that we haven't already lost.
Just in the past few years they've bulldozed several acres of forested land near me to build those urban sprawl low income housing neighborhoods where all the houses look exactly the same. They also recently tried to build a hotel a few miles away on a piece of land that has several 100+ year old trees and a creek with trout running through it. Thankfully it got voted out at a city hall meeting but they're probably just going to try again in a few years.
The situation feels hopeless and we're just going to keep destroying and destroying until there's nothing left.
