>>2273531Just got my second Esee, the Candiru. Cute little guy.
Expensive for a tiny piece of steel, but goddamn that Izula has held up well. I use it daily for work. Compared to the $35 I spent on the CRKT SPEW I was using before that, the Izula sheath still clicks and holds after a year and a half of snapping the thing in multiple times daily, no issues with corrosion on the knoife despite being in humid Florida and working in the rain sometimes, and I understand the carbon steel meme now, it stays sharper longer than any budget stainless I have used before and it gets sharp again with a couple pulls through the $10 keychain sharpener. Also there’s the warranty, but I have yet to fuck up the tip by prying stuff like I have done with lots of stainless steel knoifes. I’m sure you can get more for less money with a chink brand, but there’s no telling what kind of heat treatment you will really get.
Plus paying an extra $25 to support a company like Esee doing worthwhile stuff and making shit in the US is cool. I’m a big fan of them ever since I saw they made one of their blades in some supersteel and the description was like “We only made this because our knoife collector customers wanted it. We don’t warranty it, we don’t recommend you use it in a survival situation, we would much rather sell you a carbon knife with a lifetime warranty for 1/3 the price”.
I need to use the Benchmeme more to see how that expensive ass stainless holds up, but I’m too much of a pussy to really abuse the $200 knoife the same way as the $50
