>>2274336this is by far the slowest, most labor intensive way to build a house imaginable. Sure, you'll save a few bucks on building materials, but packing thousands upon of thousands of tires/sandbags with dirt would take a single person years; and the labor needed to get it done before the heat death of the universe eats most if not all of those savings away.
That said, about the only way to make this one work is if you host a 'building party' and lure gullible, idiot hippies to your property to do it for you so they can "learn". basically hosting a building party where they camp on site and you feed them, and they do the work.
If you're actually serious about building a house though, yes the bank is right answer. do you own land? do you know what regs are applicable to it? If not, do you have the cash to buy the land outright (if not, you'll need a construction loan.. and good fucking luck getting them to fund a self build)
these threads are all so tiresome. i know it's hard for the 20y/o millennial brain to comprehend, but most of these questions are very common and just a a google search away. but i'd strongly suggest dispensing with the notion that you can mosey up to some cheap acreage in the wilderness with nothing but an alaskan sawmill and build something. it's a romantic idea, and youtube is partially to blame -- but it's a fantasy.
