How do you guys layer stuff in the cold?
I don't like the traditional setup like pic related, I can't stand fleece because quarter zips always are a pain in the ass and can't be replaced as easily as a button

What I found to be the most comfy is a merino wool base layer, cotton mid layer like a crewneck, and a wool layer on top of it. Lightweight, warm, doesn't break the bank

The only downsides I've found are that if you don't size right it can be unergonomic, restrictive and fucked if it rains, but that's what you have a rain jacket for
