i've never tried their stuff but from what i can tell they do know what they're doing and their products are on the high end and tend to be some of the best in their category

but worth the price? i don't think so.

like with any niche gear they'll have a piece that will be very slightly better but almost double the price and it's usually not by a margin that is worth it for me personally

In my experience Arc'teryx products are absolutely the top of the line. Whether that's worth the price is up to you. I personally wouldn't buy them without a big sale. The amount you pay for the quality is exponential, so buy a jacket that's half the price and it'll be 90% as good. You end up paying double for that extra 10%.

Don't worry about brands, find out what you need (ie: gore-tex jacket or shell) and then shop around for what suits you best.

They don't actually price much higher than any other high end mountaineering brand for most categories. Look at Mammut, Rab, Haglöfs etc.

I like the fit and the simplistic look of their stuff.

i have a lot of experience with gear the next like half tier or tier down from arc'teryx and below and can tell from my decades of /out/ experience and other trusted peoples' experiences that it's good ass gear, just probably not going to be worth it for most people
