I've been hiking the trails for over two decades now, the only thing I have ever needed a cutting tool for is cutting cord, I have never even met or seen another trail hiker who used a cutting tool for anything but cutting cord.
So I think it's time we said it outloud

You don't need anything more than pic related and anyone that says otherwise is compensating hard.
Whenever I see some try hard young wannabe trail hiker pull out his "tough guy toothpick" I just smile and shake my head, sometimes I have a good chuckle about it.
And they always look so embarrassed.
