>>2284953Ive done some longer solo trips. It really not as bad as you expect it to be. At night, the brain can definitely get stuck in a hyperactive state, if your ears are constantly straining to figure out what every twig snap and bush shake is. I try (if possible) to sleep next to running water, as this helps deaden any of the environmental noise that could keep me up. Sometimes Ill listen to music/podcasts (this will trigger autists) if Im feeling particularly on edge.
This summer I did a 70 miler mostly through Mt. Baker national forest on logging roads (mostly decommissioned), and unmaintained trails. Didnt see a soul for 3 days. Some of the time I was trespassing on active logging claims, but managed to avoid running into anybody. I camped under a bridge one night, other than that it was mostly what youd expect (the flattest, driest spot I could find). I highly recommend it!
