It's an amateur graphical novel my friend is writing. A coming-of-age kind of story taking place in the mid 90's detailing what it's like growing up poor deep in isolated Appalachia, post-mine-bust after the jobs, money, and opportunities had evaporated faster than people could get out. I can't say much more than that, he's still nailing down the details. I've only ever visited and never really lived there so I feel a bit like a poser trying to illustrate life there. I want to make up for it in the accuracy of my depictions of the area. It's easy enough finding accurate reference for the towns and such, but the forests are another thing. (and with that being said, if anyone has any input as to subtle things I could throw in to really sell the spirit of the area, by all means)
>Panther State ForestCan't say I've been there sadly enough. I spent a few nights camping with my dad in New River Gorge back when I was a kid, though.
