So i live in a shitty city and want to out. Cant even get myself to take a walk. Pls help.

No idea what pic to post, just want some motivation to get something rollin.

How do you motivate yourself to /out? Is there an app or or something that gives you points fot going to places? Pls help me egg, i want to explore my area and i know its legal but i think im retarded.

If you have a car - I highly recommend seeing what is an hour or two's drive from your place of residence.

Alltrails allows you to sort trails by difficulty, length, and other features.

Start with something easy and short with minimal elevation gain, and work your way up.

If you pay 30 a year for pro you can download maps for offline use wherever you go (you can make custom maps and import .gpx files as well)

u just click a lot of buttons - even a simpleton can do it

I use the alltrails desktop app to find trails but your phone is great for when you are on overnight trips and while you are actually driving there or out - it offers directions in google maps or gps coordinates to enter into a mapping applications.

For motivation, find a photo that inspires you on alltrails, and try to find the actual location it was taken irl.

Alltrails like everyone else said, but waiting for motivation won't happen. You just have to say it's go time and do it. Doesn't even matter when it is or when you have to turn back.

When I was in a rut it might take most the day to just do it. I might have to drive two hours and turn back after an hour or two. You just do it and eventually you find yourself doing it earlier in the day, or for longer amounts of time.

I'm not reading some wall of text from some cuck on Reddit. Never have, never will.

It's a free app with some shit that can get you going until you start wanting to do more outside and are willing to do the research yourself. I don't go on Reddit and suggest shit for people to do in their own areas because they're too lazy to do it themselves. I'm not going to do that here for someone.

I have lots of apps. My best trick is to look on Google maps satellite view. Find a patch of green near you that has no houses near it and may contain public land with hidden trails. Hidden trails are often better than well known trails.

I change my gear a lot, just trying different knives, ropes, saws, etc. I bring a small bottle filled with seeds to sprinkle in green ditches and such. I build lean tos and teepees and places that people or animals can get out of the rain of they need. here it only rains for like 5 minutes at a time.

If you're worried you can get a 2 or 4 Oz pepper spray. They go 7-15ft. I also carry a big can of pepper spray that goes up to 25ft. My puppy makes me get out way more often than I otherwise would, and I'm always glad once my feet, or wheels hit the trail, and I just don't want it to end. Then pretty soon the sun starts getting low and I have to run back to the car.

I've even done moonlit bike rides. You'd be surprised how fast your eyes adjust.

I have a slightly different approach that might work for you but might aswell not.
might even be not feasible in the US.

if you have trouble with taking a walk consider going for a bike ride. if you don't have a bike get the shittiest clapped out bike you can find.

I had some serious problems with depression in the past and roaming my city on a bike helped me a lot.

when riding a bike your basically a super human, other people can't give you shit, they can barely talk to you so you can easily sneak peaks into back yards and just generally explore.

once I was done with the neighborhood I satred riding out side of the city and progressed from there.

i don't know, I think it was just a cool way for me to get exposure to being outside.

I love hiking but to me it's something a lot more deliberate than just hopping on my bike and looking at weird shit around me.

also both hiking and biking pair pretty well with taking photos of shit. bonus points for never showing those pics anyone,lol
