Warm, comfy, lightweight and expensive as fuck.

Lightweight, compressible for being a down bag and mates with another bag so my fiance and I can sleep closer when we choose to. Mating bags does reduce the heat because of increased space but its nice when you do some pink blazing. ;)

Mainly used this current set up on my Appalachian Trail Thruhike. Works perfectly from early spring until late October then I need some serious winter gear. Personally I like my set up. My biggest complaint is the price of my gear. But I'll pay higher prices for lower ounces and pack weight.

I have to Pro-lite pad for warmer weather and the BA Insulated Air Core for cooler weather. But I may have to spring for one of those NeoAir pads. The look really comfortable (need to try one out at least). My Pro-Lite is not bad but the main thing is that it packs down to nothing. My bag is a Lightyear. We have a damn close setup.

In any case, for OP - Copper Spur UL1, Thermarest Pro-lite, Kelty Lightyear. That's under 7lbs I believe. It's my typical solo "approach" setup. I can hoof big loads into the back country but I like the weight because I sometimes tie backcountry trips and climbs with business trips and the less weight, the less I have to deal with checked bags (plus, it's $90+ for an over 50lb bag).

I still prefer a tent, as I've lived in south and central Texas for the past 13 years. We get flying things that sting and bite year round. I use a thermarest self-inflating military pad, Snugpak mummybag when it's down below 65, and a poncho liner when it's over 65. I also use a Thermarest compressible pillow now that I've gotten older and can't just lay on my rolled up jacket anymore. If I remember right, all the sleep stuff fits in the sleep system compartment of a large MOLLE ruck with the tent and sleeping pad rolled up and standing upright at either side and soft goods in the middle. The whole mess can't weigh more than 15-20 lbs, including tent.

Its light, comfortable (dat footbox), and easy to set up. Cant ask for much more as far as /out/ sleeping

Its a big sil-nylon tarp. Its fairly light, offers good protection, and holds up well in a storm. It doesnt offer good protection in shifting winds though, and it can sag pretty bad if it gets wet.
I want to replace it with a winterized cuban fiber tarp sometime, but will probably be awhile

>UQ and TQ: Hammockgear 20°, 900 goose-down ($250ish each)
The top quilt and bottom quilt both do great. But I would like to replace my UQ with a Jacks-R-Better 0°- -5° for winter camping. Also, I ordered an UQ protector to help with wind until I can get a tarp with doors.

Stood up to 30mph winds all night with some rain, no problem. Fairly roomy for a single person, two person would be cramped. Pretty much what the other anon said, too. One of my best /out/ purchases.

Surprised at how 'cheap' this was compared to other bags in it's class. Kept me warm and dry in the high 30s. Doesn't weigh a lot and fits in my pack's bag compartment.

I do mostly three season camping so I don't need crazy insulation. Thick enough for side sleeping, pretty comfortable.

Definitely a luxury item, but I value a good night's sleep over a few more ounces of weight.

This is mainly for hiking in Scandinavian mountains. Temperatures in the summer range from say -5c to +25c.

Sleepingbag: Mountain hardwear phantom 45 550g
Pad: Exped DownMat 7 860g
Pillow: Therm-a-Rest Compressible Pillow 255g

First time in the mountains I went with a friend and his old cotton canvas Fjällräven tent from like the 70s. After that I got a proper fucking tent that's easy to set up and doesn't blow away.
Regular sleeping pads suck and not comfy at all.
Tired of trying to make a pillow of clothes I got that pillow and it's pretty comfy.

Pricey, not super light but not so heavy. Secure and comfy.

Some of Texas is pretty nice, but definitely not year round. Big Bend is awesome in the fall and spring, though I've survived Winter and Summer there before. I'd say I'd NEVER camp anywhere in central and south Texas between the months of May through October, or during the coldest weeks of December and January. Everything else here is so hit or miss. It's either hot and sticky or cold and wet where I live.

Is there any reason you picked the cloudburst tarp over the mamajamba?

The MJ has same coverage, lighter and has those middle panel pulls which would alleviate those wind/sag issues you're having. On sale for $115 right now too

9/10 there are better options out there than milsurp but the price to durability ratio is hard to beat.
i dont use a milsurp backpack i own a richfag tier eberlestock.
another great military richfag tier item is danner boots, which i also wear.

i also ride a kawasaki klr 650 civilian edition which the marines use, and theres is much better than the civilian edition, the thing can run on kerosene.

You should forget paracord though, you'll need some real cord to hold it, and paracord is quite shitty actually. I wouldn't use it for climbing, and for good reason because I tried it already, so obviously, I wouldn't use it to attach my hammock.

I missed the part about a civilian version of the military fuel version. you get that they just did a head/jug swap, right? they never beefed the bottom end and so it's a fucking turd with no throttle response and shakes like a dog shitting razor-blades.

to clarify, the marines DO NOT use civilian models and thus the civilian models do not run on deisel/kerosene (kerosene NOT recommended btw) the USMC uses versions modified by HDT

It's crap but it keept me comfy and warm on bivouac (full dressed) at 2500 msnm / 5~10C° with good winds. Naked, it was bad at 1C° inside a crappy tent without sleeping pad.
