>>2301360I've used the same military canteen since 2004 and it still works fine. Once I had to replace the bottle cap but that's it. Father has used his military issued canteen since 1991 and it still works. And guess what, those canteens are plastic, made by Plastex in Finland. When they freeze, they expand with ice and then they'll go back in their original shape when the ice melts. That's what ruins a metallic bottle btw. And during this winter alone I have many times forgotten my canteen in car (most of the times it has been full one) and ended up with a solid block of ice. If the same thing had happened with a metallic one, I would have had to buy a new bottle already due to either the bottom or seam giving up under the stress caused by the expanding ice.
But if you know of any metallic canteens that can withstand the same environment, please by all means, prove me wrong. I'd certainly like to know of these.
