Any nice hiking spots in the East Coast with wild flower fields? They have a lot of these in the West Coast.
I'm planning for my trip in April. I'm thinking about the Great Smoky Mountains (pic related) but if there are any other nice places I would like to visit as well.

All the flowers will be confined to the lower elevations (<4000), the higher elevations will remain gray until may/june
Just something to consider when picking campsites.

If you can delay to early june then you can catch the rhododendron blooms on the mountains around asheville

Make sure to visit roan mountain if you are near the smokies and the massive rhododendron garden up there. The Appalachian trail runs over roan mountain. And in my opinion it is one of the best sections. Of you can't make it roan mountain there is a nice hike from Burnsville NC to the top of mount Mitchell on the black mountain crest trail.

Definitely agree with smokies -national park is the way to go - there nothing interesting in the national forest, no clean creeks with waterfalls, no trails along abandoned logging railroad, just stay in the national park with the others, good!

Are you people being ironic or trying to gatekeep people from traveling to Vermont during Spring too?
I know Vermont has really bad crowds during fall but I don't think it's that bad in Spring.

Well, the problem with the spring is how fucking muddy everything is - increased traffic can quickly destroy the fragile dirt roads leading to the trailheads. Plus, the flowers really aren't spectacular in any way during the spring time, it's early summer when things start looking nice.

no. if you go in any season it sucks

>fall: maybe 1-2 weeks where it's good but it'll get cold and dark fast

>spring: mud+rain, still cold af, maybe 1-2 good weeks in late spring
take that with the general lack of noteworthy mountains, and if you're going to travel far to reach new england, you might as well just go to colorado, the smoky mountains, california, or anywhere
